Who is ADS Dental Practice Transitions?
ADS Dental Transitions is committed to assisting dentists with the sale, purchase, and valuation of dental practices. Our nationwide association of independent dental brokers have an average of 30+ years of experience and must meet stringent guidelines to be members. Together, we specialize in guiding dentists through the complexities of managing the dental practice 
transition process.
What We Do
Our mission is to offer the highest level of dental practice valuations, brokerage, and consulting services to the dental profession on a national basis.

Ryan Brengman
President
Ryan J. Brengman, J.D., is the President of Shea Practice Transitions, P.A.
Since 2001, Ryan has successfully transitioned hundreds of dental practices, including practice appraisals, practice sales, practice buy-ins, associateships, and practice buy-outs. Ryan is a licensed attorney and dental practice broker with extensive background in business planning, a member and Executive Committee member of American Dental Sales, as well as a frequent lecturer to dental groups. Shea Practice Transitions has been recognized as the Upper Midwest’s foremost practice transition specialists.

Matt Scherer
Vice-President
Matt Scherer is the President of PMA Practice Transitions with more than 16 years in the dental and veterinary industries. Matt has assisted dental and veterinary practitioners transition out of practice ownership and has been involved in over 550 transactions totaling in excess of $250 million.
Matt has spoken at numerous dental schools throughout the US and as an active member of ADS Transitions. He has experience with practice transitions, startups, partnerships, refi’s and consolidations.
Matt brings a vast experience in the banking and financial services industry with extensive expertise working with dental professionals. He gained intimate knowledge of the specific financial considerations dentists must take into account.

Preston Lovelace
Treasurer
Preston earned bachelor’s degrees in chemistry and applied mathematics at Hampden-Sydney College and his JD and MS in chemistry at the University of Illinois. He is a registered patent attorney and is admitted to practice law in Louisiana. Preston began transitioning dental practices when he joined ADS Lovelace and Associates in 2005. He frequently speaks to State and local dental associations, and was featured at the 2013 ADA Annual Session on practice transitions.
Preston earned bachelor’s degrees in chemistry and applied mathematics at Hampden-Sydney College and his JD and MS in chemistry at the University of Illinois. He is a registered patent attorney and is admitted to practice law in Louisiana. Preston began transitioning dental practices when he joined ADS Lovelace and Associates in 2005. He frequently speaks to State and local dental associations, and was featured at the 2013 ADA Annual Session on practice transitions.
Kevin P. Cooper, MBA
Marketing Director
Kevin earned his Bachelor of Science with a double major in Information Systems and management from Fairfield University in Connecticut. He began his career in the Information Technology field working for Gartner, Inc. A few years later he returned to Fairfield and obtained an MBA with a concentration in Information Systems and Operations Management. In 2006 Kevin returned to NJ and worked for the American Board of Internal Medicine. In 2017 Kevin joined his father at American Practice Consultants where he has assisted dentists with over fifty dental transitions. Kevin has written articles for ADS Dental Transitions and serves on the ADS Marketing Committee. Kevin knows firsthand that practice transitions can be complicated, and the ins and outs of practice sales often exceed the dentist’s training.

Jeremy Brown
Banking Committee Chair
With over 13 years of professional expertise in Dental Practice Transitions, Jeremy Brown is a strategic player on the team at Watson Brown. After joining the firm in 2008, Jeremy then went on to graduate from law school in 2015 while simultaneously maintaining his role within the company. Jeremy handles all client communications, the ongoing marketing efforts of each practice, and the strategic locating of qualified buyers. His knowledge of digital marketing communications, and successful experience in the field, positions him as the expert for smooth and profitable practice transitions.
Out of the Office, Jeremy follows college football and spends his time investing as a Scout Master with Boy Scouts of America. Jeremy and his wife, Audrey, have six beautiful children.

Paul is the President and CEO of a six-broker group serving the Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Alaska, and Hawaii dental communities. Established in 1996, Consani Associates Limited is the largest regional broker in the Pacific Northwest. Paul is also a noted national speaker. His speaking engagements include, the National Association of Healthcare Consultants, the American Dental Association Executive Committee, and the Practice Valuation Study Club. Paul is a frequent speaker for Dental Associations on the topics of the dental workforce, associateships, partnerships, and practice transitions.

Earl Douglas

Earl M. Douglas, DDS, MBA, BVAL began his dental career in 1971, graduating from University of Maryland, Baltimore College of Dental Surgery. After six years of serving in the US Army during the Viet Nam war, serving in Fort Benning, Georgia and Stuttgart Germany, Earl was in private practice in Atlanta, Georgia until July of 1982. It was then that he sold his practice and began his career in practice transitions. He earned his MBA degree two years later and also started his own transition company, ADS South, LLC. In 1996 Earl was the founding president of ADS Dental Transitions. He earned his Business Valuator Accredited in Litigation and performs valuation and provides testimony for practice values.
Earl is a frequent contributor of articles and lectures. He has developed software for use in valuing practices and analysis. He enjoys the process of helping clients make the best-informed decisions in their personal careers and seeing them to fruition. Earl and his wife and business partner Ginny are avid travelers and enjoy skiing, diving and going to new places and making new friends.

Fred Heppner

Fred Heppner has over four decades of experience in the dental industry covering Dental Practice Transitions, Management Consulting, and Business Coaching. Beginning in 1983, Mr. Heppner embarked on a journey to help dentists manage the difficulties presented to them when owning their own practice. His track record of success guiding dentists through the rough waters of business ownership and ultimately transitioning into retirement is well marked.
He has authored numerous articles on business management, practice valuations, and practice transitions for local, regional, and national journals. He is a frequent lecturer at dental conferences.
He is the principal of Arizona Transitions & Proactive Practice Management, located in Phoenix, Arizona. Through his many contacts in the industry, he serves the Greater Phoenix Metropolitan area, Southern and Northern Arizona, and states throughout the country.

Our members are committed to maintaining the highest level of technical competence in this specialized field. Through active participation in continuing education seminars hosted by ADS and other recognized professional groups, we ensure our expertise remains up to date.
To foster open dialogue and knowledge sharing, ADS maintains a Peer Review Committee. This committee serves as a forum for informal discussions covering all aspects of dental practice valuation and brokerage. Our members actively engage in these activities, further enhancing their professional growth.
Confidentiality is of utmost importance to us. ADS members handle all information, whether written or verbal, regarding a dental practice with strict confidentiality. Financial and proprietary information will only be disclosed to third parties with written consent from the practice owner (client).
To maintain integrity, ADS members refrain from providing formal or informal opinions on the value of a dental practice without having access to all relevant facts related to the valuation assignment.
Our dental practice evaluations are conducted independently, ensuring transparency and eliminating any conflicts of interest. ADS members are committed to adhering to all statutes, regulations, and laws governing the jurisdiction in which a dental practice is being valued or brokered.
As a testament to our professionalism, all valuations are provided in written form and personally signed by the ADS member, ensuring clarity and accountability for our clients.
